The Wednesday, April 20 blaze destroyed the Mandic family house, garage, workshop, and large outbuilding in Springfield Township; and left Mickey, his wife, daughter, and son-in-law without a home, according to a GoFundMe.
Mickey Mandic is the sole provider for his family, but his health has forced him to step down.
"I unfortunately had to have two major surgeries on my feet due to infections and diabetes. While being treated for these it was also discovered that I am in kidney failure, and am currently in the process of being added to the kidney transplant donation list," Mickey wrote on the fundraiser he launched Sunday, April 24.
"This is only adding to the difficulty I am facing to be able to acquire the funds needed to repair and rebuild my family home."
The page had raised more than $5,700 in two days.
"There will come a time in the near future in which I will no longer be able to continue to work, and I hope that my family will be reestablished before that time arrives," he added.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
